Giants Reliever Returns $500K To Team After Noticing Contract Error
(WSCR) It's safe to say Giants relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt is an honest man.
In his new book titled To Stir A Movement, Affeldt tells the story of how he returned $500,000 to the Giants after a contractual error left him half a million dollars richer.
In his book, Affeldt explains that in 2010, he and the Giants agreed on a $4 million salary. After the contract was agreed upon, the team mistakenly changed the contract amount to $4.5 million. Both sides reportedly signed the contract without noticing the error.
When he realized an error had been made, the reliever decided to notify the team and sign a new deal for the agreed upon amount, even though he was legally entitled to the extra cash.
