Get Ready For A Dreary Afternoon With Intermittent Rain
CHICAGO (CBS) -- This might be a good day to keep in mind the optimistic words of Julian Driggs, the first customer in line for the iPhone at the Michigan Avenue Apple Store.
"I'm just happy to get the phone, it's super-amazing and it's Friday," Driggs told CBS 2's Ed Curran after camping outside the store for three days. "What can be better?"
Of course, there's a rather obvious answer to that question – the weather could be a lot better. And CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros tells us it's not going to get much better on Friday afternoon, nor on Saturday.
As of 11:20 a.m., it was chilly enough to warrant a jacket in most locations. The temperature was 56 in Waukegan, 57 at O'Hare International Airport, 60 at Midway Airport, and 63 at Gary and Valapariso. The cloud cover and rain showers have kept the temperatures down and the skies dreary.
Heavy rain was falling across southern Wisconsin late Friday morning, but only light and annoying rain made it into northern Illinois.
Glaros says the showers will come and go throughout the day. The high for Friday is 65, and overnight, the low drops to 47 as showers continue.
The showers will also persist on Saturday, until the skies clear later in the day. But when that happens, you won't be wanting to go out for a sunbath.
An early November air mass is blowing in from the northwest, and the temperature on Saturday will only hit 59 degrees. The temperature on Sunday likewise will only hit 59, and the overnight Sunday into Monday, the low will drop down to a chilly 43.
The high for Monday is 65, Tuesday 74, Wednesday 70, and Thursday 69.
