McCaskey: 'Money Is Not Going To Be An Issue' In Free Agency
(WSCR) When free agency opens up in less than four weeks, the Bears have the potential to make the biggest splash of all.
New general manager Phil Emery and the Bears are expected to have around $20 million in cap space to go after free agents at key positions such as wide receiver and the offensive line.
"The bottom line, and Phil knows this, if there is someone we want -- and it makes sense -- money is not going to be an issue," Bears Chairman George McCaskey told the Chicago Tribune.
As the Tribune reports, a good portion of cap space could be used by the Bears to retain their own players. Most notably, running back Matt Forte is without a contract.
