Floyd Inspired To Make A Difference
(WSCR) White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd must be feeling the holiday spirit.
According to a report, Floyd and his wife donated $21,000 to help a man he'd never met buy a pair of prosthetic legs.
Tim Smith, a 24-year-old college student, needed a new pair of prosthetic legs. With no insurance, Smith was told he would need to come up with $31,000 to buy his new legs.
After a fundraiser left him with only $10,000, it appeared Smith would go without his new set of legs. That is, until Floyd got wind of the story.
Floyd and his wife, who had never met smith, then cut a $21,000 check to cover the cost of the legs.
