Gas Sells For One Penny Per Gallon At Woodstock Shell Station After Glitch
WOODSTOCK, Ill. (CBS) -- If you were looking for cheap gas, a Shell station on Madison Street in Woodstock was the place to be last night.
Amazingly, gasoline that normally sells for about $3.50 a gallon was selling for a penny a gallon for awhile.
Word spread. Cars piled up. Police showed up.

It was a glitch in the system, says Shell station employee Rita Castillo, who found out about the penny-a-gallon price hours later when she arrived at work.
"The first thing I do is run outside and check the price."
And the price was back to normal.
Castillo says she's not sure how many people took advantage of the price error.
"No idea."
She says she feels sorry for her boss.
"I like my boss. He's a good man. I don't know what's going on. I hope the company replaces that stuff. But I feel upset for him."
Castillo says she's worked for her boss for five years and she's upset that customers wouldn't tell the station management they were taking something for nothing.
