Gas Leak Blocks Off Canal Street In South Loop
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A gas leak caused traffic headaches in a busy part of the South Loop Friday morning.
Police and fire crews blocked off Canal Street between Roosevelt Road and 14th Street Friday morning because of a gas leak, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
According to dispatch reports, a gas main was struck by a private snowplow, causing the leak. As a precautionary measure, the BNSF railroad building at 1432 W. 14th St. was evacuated.
There was no fire and no injuries reported, Perez said.
A People's Gas representative was not immediately available for comment.
