Gary Sinise In Town For Concert To Benefit Wounded Vets
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Actor and Chicago area native Gary Sinise will be back this weekend for several causes close to his heart.
As WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports, on Friday night, Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band will perform at Joe's on Weed, 940 W. Weed St.

The concert is a benefit for his Gary Sinise Foundation, which helps wounded veterans, coming home from war. Sinise says as the involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan winds down, there still are soldiers who have served multiple tours of duty.
"That can be very stressful on the family and on a service member, so what we try to do at the Gary Sinise Foundation is just fill in the gaps where the government leaves off," Sinise said. "The government can't possibly do everything that's necessary."
Sinise is also due to attend a fundraiser for his old stomping grounds, the Steppenwolf Theatre, and on Sunday, he will lead the seventh-inning stretch at the Cubs game.
Meanwhile, after eight seasons of CBS's CSI-New York, Sinise is on hiatus from the show and waiting to find out whether it will be renewed.
"I hope we come back," he said. "If we don't, it's been a great eight years."
