Gar Forman Named NBA Co-Executive Of The Year
CHICAGO (CBS) Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman has been named a co-recipient of 2010-11 NBA Executive of the Year award, the league announced on Tuesday.
As general manager, Forman helped build a 62-win Bulls team out of a 41-41 team a season ago by signing free agents Carlos Boozer, Ronnie Brewer, and Kyle Korver among others.
Forman will share the award with Miami's Pat Riley, who brought LeBron James and Chris Bosh to Miami to team-up with Dwyane Wade.
Both Forman and Riley received 11 of a possible 30 votes, and John Paxson, Bulls' Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, came in third with three votes.
Forman will join Tom Thibodeau and Derrick Rose as recipients of league honors. Thibodeau, in his first season as a head coach, won the Red Auerbach Trophy as the 2010-11 NBA Coach of the Year.
Rose became the youngest Most Valuable Player in the league's history.
