Gang Members Arrested After Attacking Suburban Boys
MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (STMW) - Three admitted gang members are facing felony charges for the beatings of two northwest suburban boys on Wednesday.
Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, Mount Prospect police responded to the area of Boxwood Drive and Dogwood Lane to investigate a battery. Upon arrival, officers found two boys who had sustained multiple injuries, according to a release from police.
The victims reported being confronted and attacked by several gang members near 919 Boxwood Dr. The victims reported being struck multiple times, the report said.
One of the victims was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment of injuries and the other was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights for treatment of blunt trauma, the release said. The injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
The victims' statements of what happened led to the arrest of three admitted gang members by Mount Prospect and Wheeling police.
Jorge Magana, 17, of Wheeling; Luis Guzman, 17, of Arlington Heights; and a 16-year-old Wheeling boy were charged with one felony count each of aggravated battery and two felony counts each of mob action, the release said.
Magana and Guzman were scheduled to appear in bond court Friday in Rolling Meadows for a bond hearing, while the juvenile was being held at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center, the release said.
