Gammons: White Sox Favorites To Win AL Central
Opening day is several weeks away, as a result all 30 MLB teams are optimistic that they have the right mix of pitching, hitting and defense to clinch their respective division title.
But in all reality, few of these teams will actually compete for a chance at a division championship and a shot at the World Series. And much of the time, a team's success in season is dictated by what transpires in the offseason.
"Well we know Kenny Williams is always going to try to win," Peter Gammons, of the MLB Network, said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "I mean that's his nature, that's the way he is. I think the White Sox, right now, I realize that the [Dayan] Viciedo injury is a bit of a setback, but I think right now that the White Sox are probably the favorites in that division.

"[Detroit] Tigers are good, but they're old in a lot of spots and we really don't know what's going to happen with the impact of the [Miguel] Cabrera problems. And Minnesota is very good, but not a dominating team. I do think the White Sox have a great chance, if [Jake] Peavy is healthy and the bullpen pitches the way we think it will."
