Gambling, Economic Issues Remain Unresolved As New Year Approaches
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A new year doesn't mean the end to old problems for the State of Illinois.
As WBBM Newsradio's Nancy Harty reports, Gov. Pat Quinn will have a full plate in 2012.

The state was able to persuade Sears Holdings Corp. and the CME Group to stay in Illinois, after they, along with a long list of other companies, threatened to move away if they didn't get tax breaks.
When asked what lies ahead in the state for 2012, Quinn told reports, "Obviously, a number of challenges – jobs, economic development, helping people move forward."
The governor and state lawmakers will again try to find common ground on new gambling options next year. Efforts to bring a casino to Chicago got hung up on who would regulate and own it.
The bid by the horse racing industry for slot machines at racetracks also remains up in the air.
