Gabriel: 'Expected A Lot More' From Hanie
(WSCR) Three weeks into the Caleb Hanie experience, it's safe to say this back-up plan has not gone as smoothly as hoped.
Hanie has struggled to get the offense going in each of his first three starts, throwing just two touchdowns with six interceptions.
"You'd have to say he's been disappointing," Greg Gabriel of the National Football Post. "I expected a lot more. The thing that he has been is decisive. He's not a quick decision-maker and he's not processing things quick enough on the field. He's holding on to the ball too long, and because of that, they're just not making plays. When the opposing team is going to game-plan against the Bears, they see this on tape. They're going to pressure him and they're going to put him in those situations."

Gabriel, however, did say that if just a few key plays had gone the Bears' way, nobody would really be talking about the play of Hanie.
"In saying that, this team is two plays away from winning two of their last three games," Gabriel said. "If Roy WIlliams makes that catch at the goal line, (the Bears) go into overtime or win that game against Kansas City. Then, last week, if Barber doesn't run out of bounds, they win that game."
