Funeral To Be Held For Fallen Marine In Crystal Lake
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (CBS) -- The senior pastor of a Crystal Lake church where funeral services will take place this afternoon for U.S. Marine Capt. Nathan McHone is expecting about 1,000 people to attend.
The 29-year-old McHone lost his life in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan this month, along with five other marines.
Rev. Paul Schuth, senior pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, has known the McHone family for years. Nathan McHone was confirmed at the church at age 13.

Schuth said Nathan enlisted in the Marines because he wanted to be a helicopter pilot.
"Nathan was a fine young man and always so helpful and always cordial and congenial and not a bad bone in his body and he grew that way and was in school that way and he served in the military that way too," Schuth said.
McHone's funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Schuth and an associate pastor will be the speakers.
Following the ceremony, a funeral procession will lead Cpt. McHone on his final journey to the Windridge Cemetery in Cary, where a military presentation will take place, including a 21 gun salute, the playing of "Taps," and presentation of flags.
Overflow parking for the church is available at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, just south of Prince of Peace.
