The funeral service will be held the following day, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at the same address, but only limited public seating will be available.

Fans unable to attend Friday's service at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago are invited to view a funeral procession outside Wrigley Field at noon.

After the funeral service, a procession will leave Holy Name Cathedral and head north on State Street, east on Chicago Avenue, south on Michigan Avenue to the Wrigley Building at the Chicago River where it will turn around, pause in front of the Tribune Tower, head north on Michigan Avenue to inner Lake Shore Drive, then west on Division Street, north on LaSalle Drive, north on Clark Street, north on Sheffield Avenue, west on Addison Street followed by a lap around Wrigley Field.

Santo died last Thursday night in Arizona from complications of bladder cancer. He was 70.

His love for the Chicago Cubs stretched from his days as a standout third baseman who one season even jumped and clicked his heels to celebrate victories to the two decades he spent unabashedly pulling for his team as a broadcaster for WGN radio.

As much as his passion for the Cubbies soothed their long-suffering fans, his play and work in the broadcast booth helped him, too, through tough times and serious ailments, including a bout with diabetes that cost him both legs below the knees. He called the Cubs, simply, his therapy.

Santo had finished his 21st season broadcasting the Cubs in September.

A nine-time all-star in his 15-year career, Santo hit .277 with 2,254 hits, 342 home runs and 1,331 runs batted in. He also won the Gold Glove award five times.
