Freight Train Derailment Shuts Down Archer Avenue, Near 47th Street
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A freight train derailment has shut down a busy intersection on the Southwest Side.
About nine cars derailed near 47th and Archer, and one of the cars is leaning over the viaduct near that intersection.
Crews are on the scene, and Archer Avenue is closed around that area. The closure could last all day.
Cranes are being sent to the scene to upright the containers.
CTA No. 62 Archer buses and No. 47 buses are being temporarily rerouted in both directions via 47th Street, Lawndale Avenue, 51st Street and Kedzie Avenue.
