Freight Train Derailment Closes Central Avenue Near Midway
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Motorists traveling around Midway International Airport are being advised to seek alternate routes after a freight train derailment closed Central Avenue near 55th Street on Wednesday.
Central Avenue will be closed for the rest of the day between 55th Street and Archer Avenue after several train cars jumped the tracks, according to Gregg Cunningham, spokesman for the Chicago Department of Aviation
Anybody trying to get to Midway Airport should avoid Central and consider taking Cicero to the airport instead.
