Free Lifetime Health Insurance For Cicero Library Board Members
CICERO, Ill. (CBS) -- Being a Cicero Library Board member can be good for your health.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, the budget for the Cicero Library Board this year is more than $1.5 million, and the Chicago Sun-Times says nearly 6 percent of that -- $100,000 – pays for the health insurance for at least six former library board members.

That is one of the perks of being on the Cicero Library Board. People who serve four years get free health insurance for life, and the benefits pass to their spouses when they die, the Sun-Times reported.
Four years is not even a full term. Trustees are elected on six-year terms.
The plan includes a lifetime Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plan, and coverage for spouses and any children under 19, the Sun-Times reported.
The board did eliminate the perk two years ago, but only for new library trustees. Current members are still eligible, and the cost could go up to $300,000 a year, the Sun-Times reported.
