Frankfort Doctor Accused Of Fondling Woman Faces Third Lawsuit
(STMW) -- A third woman filed a lawsuit this week alleging a Frankfort pediatrician fondled her and asked her inappropriate questions about her sex life during office visits.
Kishor N. Jain, 59, of 767 Tanglewood Lane in Frankfort, now faces three civil lawsuits along with 10 criminal counts of sex abuse and five counts of battery, all filed in Will County.
Jain had been working as a pediatrician at Hedges Clinic, 222 Colorado Ave. in Frankfort. He no longer works there, a clinic supervisor confirmed, and has had his medical license suspended by the state Department of Professional Regulation.
On March 12, Rebecca Miller filed a lawsuit accusing Jain of fondling her breasts during a medical checkup in October 2012 and making "inappropriate comments" and questioning her about sexual subjects that had nothing to do with her ailment.
Miller said she was Jain's patient for many years, and that he also treated her children.
Last month, Kelly Meister filed a lawsuit alleging Jain fondled her breasts during medical checkups. Meister said she saw Jain as her personal doctor even though he was primarily a pediatrician.
During one checkup in late February or early March 2011, Jain massaged her breast while examining a pulled muscle in her chest, Meister said.
"He became aroused and was making panting sounds as if he was clearly enjoying himself," Meister wrote in her complaint.
Jain has not returned calls seeking comment.
In January, Jessica Schubbe filed a similar lawsuit. She also made a police report in August 2011 when she was allegedly fondled by Jain during an office visit for her child. Her case had been under investigation since then.
Media coverage of Schubbe's lawsuit gave other women — including Meister, her lawyer said — the courage to come forward to Frankfort police, which led to the criminal charges, police said.
Jain turned himself in to Frankfort police Feb. 15 when he learned of a warrant for his arrest on the criminal charges. He posted bond and was released.
Five women, Schubbe and Meister not among them, are named as victims in the criminal complaint. Jain is scheduled to appear on the criminal case at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Will County Circuit Court.
Clinic administrators have declined to comment on the lawsuits and Jain.
Jain is scheduled to appear in court May 20 on the Schubbe lawsuit, June 10 on the Meister lawsuit and July 1 on the Miller lawsuit.
Jain was acquitted more than 10 years ago of a criminal charge for allegedly fondling a woman.
Despite the acquittal, the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation reprimanded Jain for the incident in 2006. As part of the discipline, Jain was required to complete 20 hours of continuing education in record keeping, case management and boundary issues.
In 2002, Robin Mendoza and Kerry Tadej filed a lawsuit claiming Jain fondled them on two separate office visits in 2001. The lawsuit brought by Mendoza and Tadej was settled out of court in 2007.
