Frank Thomas: Onus On Sosa To Reach Out To Cubs
(CBS) Former White Sox great Frank Thomas didn't leave the organization in 2006 on the best of terms, but both sides have since mended the fences and will take great pride when he's inducted into the Hall of Fame later this month.
It's with that background that Thomas was asked what he thought of a frosty relationship on the other side of town -- between the Cubs and former slugger Sammy Sosa, whose relationship has been distant/non-existent since he left his final game in Chicago early in 2004 and has been linked to PEDs.
To Thomas, the onus is on Sosa to make amends with the Cubs, though he admitted both sides have to find the middle ground.
"It's a 50-50 compromise, and I think he's got to reach out and understand he did some wrongs," Thomas said. "He needs to reach out to the organization. That's the only way it's going to happen."
Sosa wasn't invited to the Cubs' 100-year celebration of Wrigley Field in April, and it irked him.
"There is something that has to be resolved," Sosa said then, according ESPN Deportes. "If there is something to clarify, we will sit down and clear it up. Time has given me the maturity to reflect upon many things, including knowing that one side doesn't have to be right all the time."
Thomas addressed a variety of topics with Mully and Hanley, including White Sox slugging first baseman Jose Abreu, who he called "must-watch TV."
