Frank Lloyd Wright Home In Rockford On Auction Block
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Inquiries have arrived from as far as China and England about an original Frank Lloyd Wright home, complete with Wright designed furniture, being auctioned off Thursday afternoon in Chicago.
Brian Kuzdas, owner of Real Estate Auctions, says the Laurent House in Rockford could bring anywhere between $500,000 to upwards of $1 million.
The original owners still live in the one-story home with curving brick sides, and a 60-foot wall of windows overlooking a 1.2 acre forest, according to Kuzdas.

The owners are moving to enter an assisted care facility and are hoping for a combination of a high price and a bid from a group that reveres Wright and will maintain the home in original condition.
Kuzdas says the home is filled with Wright designed furniture: six tables, many chairs, lamps and other fixtures including fireplace hardware.
He says a Rockford preservation group has a combination of city and state grants to support a bid that would turn the home into a public museum, but he also says it's an open auction, so it could well go to an art lover from abroad.
The auction is being held in Chicago at 1440 W Hubbard St., because it's part of a daylong furniture and art auction, rather than a real estate auction.
