Frank Lloyd Wright Group Now Fully Owns Oak Park Studio
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A local organization now owns the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio in Oak Park free and clear.
When the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust bought the architect's home in 1975, the National Trust for Historic Preservation put up half the money.
The Wright preservation trust then leased the home, while pumping money into restoration efforts.
The two groups on Monday announced that the lease has been paid off. Now, the Wright trust plans to start a fund to cover maintenance.
The architect built the family home in 1889 and added the working architects' studio in 1898. He lived in the home for about 20 years and also had homes in Wisconsin and Arizona.
