Fox On Bears' Loss: 'Kind Of Our Same Song -- We Just Came Up A Little Short'
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bears coach John Fox said "the proof's in the pudding" that Robbie Gould hasn't been his usual reliable self in the last couple weeks, after he missed another crucial field goal in a loss Sunday, but Fox said the kicker isn't the only one whose performance needs to improve.
Gould missed a potential game-tying 50-yard field goal on the Bears' final drive in the fourth quarter of the 24-21 loss to the Redskins on Sunday at Soldier Field, a week after he missed a 36-yard field goal that could have beaten the 49ers as time expired.
"That was how it ended, but I think we let them jump out to a 14-point lead,"Fox told WBBM Newsradio's Josh Liss. "I thought our guys scratched back into it. We had a score right before the half, and then came out and had 14 in the second half and just kind of our same song. We just came up a little short."
Asked how to explain what's been happening with Gould the past couple weeks, Fox said, "The proof's in the pudding."
"He's been … off a little bit the last couple weeks, and so we've got to go back to the drawing board, start working a little harder, and hopefully get that cleaned up these last three games," Fox said.
The whole team has to improve, Fox said.
"We have to get better," he said. "You've got to find ways to win them, and we will. It's just a matter of time. We're trying to figure that out with three games left."
