Fox & Obel Opens After Passing Inspection
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three days after it was closed for multiple city health violations, the upscale market Fox & Obel opened its doors to customers on Thursday.
The River North grocery passed its latest city health inspection on Thursday morning, officials said.
Fox & Obel was closed down this week after inspectors found:
- More than 200 fruit flies
- More than 30 cockroaches; and
- Coolers way too warm to store food safely
Workers were seen inside the store all week, but it was closed to customers. It also failed an inspection on July 5.
Health inspection reports show the business has repeatedly failed inspections over the past few years.
In 2010, an inspector found 75 to 80 fruit flies.
In 2011, there were repeated issues with food temperatures.
And in 2012, inspectors found two live cockroaches and dozens of dead ones.
