Four Shot And Killed In Two Days In Gary
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Detectives in Gary, Indiana, have had their hands full, after four people were slain in the past two days.
There were two fatal shootings Monday night within minutes of each other.
In the first, near 5th Avenue and Roosevelt Street, police responded to a call of a gunshot victim, and found 44-year-old Alec McCloud inside his car, dead of multiple gunshot wounds. Officers have arrested a suspect, and charges were pending Tuesday morning.
A few minutes later, a man and woman were shot at 25th Avenue and Clark Road. A Chicago woman, identified as 27-year-old Valerie Gonzalez, was struck in the chest, and died. A man who was with her was hit in the head, but survived.
Those shootings came on the heels of the murder of 15-year-old Daja Brookshire, who was shot Sunday night as she was getting out of a car at her grandmother's home at 7th Avenue and Adams Street.
Earlier Sunday, 22-year-old Untonise Harper was shot and killed in the 700 block of Broadway. A 21-year-old man was shot in the arm in the same incident, but he was not seriously injured. As of Sunday morning, police were questioning a person in the shooting, but no charges have been announced as of Tuesday morning.
