Four Injured In Lincolnshire Crash
LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. (STMW) - Four people were injured, one critically, Friday night when a sport-utility vehicle crashed into street signs, sped in the wrong direction while passing a cop and collided into two vehicles in north suburban Lincolnshire.
Police receive multiple 911 calls at 8:50 p.m. reporting a reckless driver who was possibly under the influence, according to a Lincolnshire police release.
A Honda CRV crashed into street signs on Route 22 and then traveled south on Route 21, the release said. A police officer in the area of Route 21 and Aptakisic Road saw the SUV speeding south in the northbound lanes.
A moment later, the SUV collided head-on with a Toyota and a Jeep, the release said.
Four people were injured and taken to area hospitals. One person was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The other three are expected to be released in the upcoming days.
The drivers of the vehicles provided blood and urine for toxicology testing and results are expected in the upcoming weeks, the release said.
The accident is under investigation.
