Four Arrested In Elgin Prostitution Sting
ELGIN (CBS) -- When Elgin Police Chief Jeff Swoboda led a "walk and talk" at the downtown Metra and Pace stations a month ago, asking train and bus riders what they liked and didn't like about the northwest suburb, some said prostitution was going on in the area.
So on Thursday evening, police said, undercover officers conducted a "reverse prostitution" sting that ended in the arrest of four men for allegedly soliciting a prostitute.
Police said members of the department's Strategic Initiatives Division, Major Investigations Division and Patrol Division participated in the three-hour sting.
Police said the four men were charged under a city ordinance prohibiting solicitation, which carries a $1,000 fine upon conviction. Three of the men's vehicles also were towed.
Arrested were Roberto Gasca-Perez, 50, of the 300 Block of Standish Street in Elgin; Gustavo Granados-Castillo, 39, of the 500 block of Thorndale Avenue in Elgin; Terry Nolan, 30, of the 100 block of Meadowdale Road, Carpentersville; and Harry Villegas, 45, of the 800 block of Bode Road in Elgin.
