Former Naperville Dentist Facing Reckless Homicide Charge Dies
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- A former Naperville dentist accused of killing two people in a head-on crash on I-88 last month has died.
William A. Howe suffered hip and leg fractures Aug. 6 after allegedly crashing his Porsche into another car while driving the wrong way on the tollway near Lisle, killing an Elmhurst woman and her father and severely injuring her husband.

Howe, who already had a February charge of driving under the influence of drugs pending against him, was taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville after the wreck and was later transferred to Loyola.
Attorney John Curnyn says Howe's family is not sure if the 43-year-old's death was due to injuries from the crash or the Huntington's disease that he was diagnosed with two years ago.
Curnyn says the family is mourning his loss and the other victims, calling it a tragedy for all involved.
Authorities weighed filing more severe, first-degree murder charges against Howe, law enforcement sources said. But a murder charge would have required prosecutors to prove Howe intended to harm someone — a difficult task in a car crash, sources said.
