Former Cubs Pitcher Kerry Wood Discovers Body In Belmont Harbor
(CBS) Former Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood reportedly discovered a man's body floating in the water in Belmont Harbor.
The Tribune reports Wood was paddle boarding Monday morning when he saw the body.
"Mr. Wood immediately notified 911 of this discovery,'' a police report states.
The man reportedly had an identification tag on his left wrist which indicated he had been reported missing by a local nursing home after he was released from the hospital on June 19.
The man was identified as a 40-year-old from the 5400 block of North Broadway, according to the Cook County medical examiner.
The Wood family had no comment on the incident.
