Former City Official Ray Orozco Takes Post At Maggie Daley's Charity
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A former high-ranking city official who lost his job when Mayor Richard M. Daley decided not to run again has found another position.
This time, Ray Orozco Jr.'s position has ties to former Chicago First Lady Maggie Daley.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Mary Frances Bragiel reports, Orozco, the former chief of staff to Mayor Daley has been named chief executive officer of After School Matters – the charity run by Mrs. Daley.

Crain's Chicago Business' Greg Hinz reports the $185,000 per year position was created for Orozco, as was the position of chief financial officer for Katherine LaMantia, the former acting Cultural Affairs Commissioner.
Mrs. Daley released a statement saying the positions were needed "to support our continuing quality improvement efforts," Crain's reported.
In the infamous blizzard back in early February, Orozco took personal responsibility for keeping Lake Shore Drive open as the snowstorm rolled in during the evening rush hour on Feb. 2. It was shut down at 8 p.m. after a series of accidents left hundreds of cars stuck in heavy snow.
Orozco previously served as the head of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, and as commissioner of the Fire Department – a position also once held by his father, Ray Orozco Sr.
