Former Chicago Family To Be Reunited With Lost Dog After 2 1/2 Years
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two weeks after a Siberian Husky was reunited with her owner in McHenry County, five years after the dog disappeared, a former Chicago family's 12-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, lost for 2 ½ years, has been found in north suburban Grayslake.
Nicole Brownell's Yorkie Sadie was stolen - or disappeared - from the family's home in Chicago's Roscoe Village neighborhood in April 2010.
"We tried for such a long time to get that dog back," she said.
Then, this week, she finally got a call from Save-A-Pet in Grayslake.
"She was found at a busy intersection near a bank in Grayslake. Some gentleman found her. It was nighttime, and he didn't know what she was. He saw she was a little dog, and brought her in, wrapped up in paper towels," Brownell said.

Sadie was taken to Save-A-Pet, which determined she had been microchipped.
"I never gave up hope, and I feel like we've been really blessed," she said.
Brownwell was driving to Chicago from her current home in Ohio, to pick up Sadie at the vet's office.
"I could barely sleep last night," Brownell said. "I couldn't wait to get on the road. Everyone's really excited. My husband has seen her, and he got there before I did today. And my brother's coming from Iowa. My whole family is just overjoyed. We love this dog so much."
She said Sadie is down to only three pounds, and very thin, but will be okay.
