Former Cabbie Gets 35 Years For Assaults On Female Passengers
CHICAGO (AP) -- A former Chicago cabdriver has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for two separate incidents in which he sexually assaulted female passengers.
Eric Chung received his sentence Wednesday after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault. He must serve at least 85 percent of the 35-year sentence before he's eligible for parole.
Authorities say the cabdriver picked up both of his victims from the northwest suburbs, held them against their will and assaulted them in February 2013. The second incident involved a group of three women, but when they demanded Chung pull over, the two women in the backseat got out and he sped away with the woman who was in the front seat.
Chung is required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
