Former Bear Agrees To Pay Back $350K In Charity Funds
(WSCR) Former Chicago Bear Chris Zorich will be required to pay back nearly $350,000 in money from his charity that remains unaccounted for after a two-year state investigation into his charity.
Zorich will also be barred from taking a leading role in any charity in Illinois, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The investigation into the Chris Zorich Charitable Foundation was spurred by a 2010 Tribune report that Zorich's charity was in disarray and that he didn't have bank statements accounting for unspent funds.
According to his lawyer's statement, Zorich denies any misuse of the funds.
"He takes responsibility for the situation," said his attorney, Matt Lydon of Winston and Strawn. "He's committed to putting this difficulty behind him."
