Florio: Don't Expect Martz To Coach Jaguars
(WSCR) When the Jacksonville Jaguars fired head coach Jack Del Rio, multiple coaching candidates began to surface.
One of whom was Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz. New Jaguars owner Shahid Khan was season ticket holder for the Rams when Martz coached there, so there is a connection.
One NFL expert said there is no way the Jaguars would want Martz.
"It's the most superficial and obvious connection, just because Shahid Khan, the next owner, was a season ticket holder of the Rams when Mike Martz was once the head coach," Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "Let's give Kahn a little credit here. It's a big world -- there are a lot of coaches out there. Mike Martz was a train wreck, ultimately, in St. Louis, fighting with the front office. ... (The GM) is not going to want a coach who has a reputation of fighting with the front office. He's going to lean toward a guy who is happy to be there, who isn't going to make waves. Mike Martz is the last guy you would want."
