Flores Endorses Gery Chico For Mayor
CHICAGO (WBBM) - City Colleges President Gery Chico received the endorsements of former 1st ward alderman and current Illinois Commerce Commission Chair Manny Flores and Illinois Human Rights Commission Chair Marty Castro.

Flores was expected to enter the race but backed out citing family obligations, and saying "it simply is not the right time." But he points to Chico's working class background and successful professional life as the reason he would be the best candidate for the city.
Chico says he honored to receive the endorsement and calls the two men "faces of Chicago's latino" community. But he is also quick to say that his campaign is not a "latino" campaign.
