Storms Also Pushing Gas Prices Up
(CBS) -- You may be paying for the recent rain and not know it – paying in the form of higher gasoline prices.
That's right. Since the rain started earlier this week, once-falling gas prices have sky-rocketed -- regionally, up 35 cents this week.
As of Friday, the average price across Chicago was $3.95 per gallon.
That's partly because of havoc caused by weather-related power outages. Three refineries went down, and two pipelines temporarily were halted.
"It goes to show how vulnerable you are from just one storm," says Patrick DeHaan of Gasbuddy.com.
The good news: He says it will recede in a few days. He also says this summer won't be as painful as last.
