Flight From Reno Blows Two Tires After Landing At O'Hare
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Passengers on a flight from Reno, Nev., had to get off their plane on a portable staircase at O'Hare International Airport on Monday, after the aircraft blew two tires shortly after landing.
American Airlines spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan said two tires on the left main landing gear of Flight 810 after landing Monday afternoon shortly before 1 p.m.
Passengers were taken off the plane using portable "air stairs" and put on a bus, according to the Chicago Fire Department. No one was injured in the incident.
American Airlines crews replaced the tires and took the plane to the hangar, according to Fagan.
Passenger Judy Okazaki tells Newsradio everything was fine on the flight and on the landing "the man sitting next to me said, 'This is a rough landing," and we didn't think anything of it."
The plane taxied for a few minutes, she says, and then there was a noise.
"It made a loud noise when it popped and it felt like we had gone into a pothole."
The flight left Reno, Nev., at 7:10 a.m. Pacific time, and arrived at O'Hare on time at about 1 p.m.
