Fitzgerald: NU's Recent Success 'Just The Tip Of The Iceberg'
CHICAGO (WSCR) On Tuesday, Northwestern inked head coach Pat Fitzgerald to a new 10-year contract, keeping him in Evanston through the 2020 season.
You get the sense from listening to Fitzgerald talk, and watching him on the sidelines, that this is really the perfect fit for him as a coach.
"I feel that way," Fitzgerald said on the Boers and Bernstein Show. "We're very fortunate, and again it's a privilege to be in this role and I understand the responsibility."

In Fitzgerald's five seasons at the helm of the Wildcats program, Northwestern has won 34 games, 24 of them coming in the last three years. Their current three-season bowl streak is the longest such streak in school history.
"We're proud of what we've been able to accomplish," Fitzgerald said. "But it's just the tip of the iceberg, and we're just getting started. I couldn't be more excited for our coaches and our players and for Wildcat Nation.
"It's a huge boost for recruiting, this kind of commitment is going to give us the world-class facilities. It's going to give us stability to our program and really help us take the next step and compete for championships, and the plan is to do it on a natural basis."
