Fitz Believes 'Cats Can Play A Lot Better Vs Eastern Illinois
(WSCR) Northwestern was the only Big Ten team to beat a BCS opponent in the first week of college football action. And they did it on the road without starting quarterback Dan Persa.
Still, NU head coach Pat Fitzgerald wasn't satisfied with his team's win at Boston College.
"Yeah a lot of positives to draw from, but the best part of it is that we didn't play very well," Fitzgerald said on The Mully and Hanley Show on 670 The Score. "We found a way to win, but we didn't play the way we are capable of. The young men came back this week with a tremendous attitude to work on the things that we can correct."

Fitz took some of the blame, saying his team didn't peak following training camp.
"We kind of slept off in the first half and then we woke up a little bit at halftime and that's my responsibility," he said. "We're going to look hard next year again at how we structure our camp to make sure we are peaking at the right time."
Northwestern takes on Eastern Illinois Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Ryan Field.
