First Chicago Ale Fest At Grant Park Canceled
UPDATE: Event Has Been Canceled, According To The Fest's Website.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mmmmm ... beeeer.
While Chicago has never experienced this event before, one thing is certain.
The first Chicago Ale Fest, on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon in Grant Park, will have tastier brews than Homer Simpson's Duff beer at Moe's Tavern.
About 100 craft brewers, many of them Chicago-based, will participate, offering 3 ounce samples, with Buckingham Fountain as the backdrop. (Click here for the list of brewers.)
More than 200 types of beer will be available.
Tickets are $50, and that includes 20 drink tickets and a commemorative glass. If 60 ounces of samples aren't enough, beer lovers can buy up to 10 additional tickets at $1.50 each.
Illinois law will cut you off after that, according to the festival's organizers.
Food, including some of Chicago's best-known food trucks, will be available for purchase. (Click here for the list of food vendors.)
Beer fans can buy their tickets in advance. The festival is also offering a $100 VIP ticket, that includes a food voucher and a festival shirt.
A $20 designated driver ticket is also available, with unlimited access to soda. However, designated drivers cannot sample any beer.
The event, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, will be held rain or shine.
Parents of kids and dogs: Leave both species at home. Nobody under 21 is allowed.
Picnic tables will be available but fest-goers are free to bring their own chair.
