Firefighters Put Out Extra-Alarm Blaze In West Garfield Park
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Firefighters extinguished a two-alarm fire that caused a roof to cave in early Tuesday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
The fire was first reported about 12:50 a.m. at a commercial building near Fulton Street and Kilbourn Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs. It was upgraded to a two-alarm about 20 minutes later.
While no injuries have been reported, the building's roof had caved in by 1:09 a.m., fire officials said. The fire was extinguished by 2:27 a.m., according to the fire department. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
