Firefighters Put Out Extra-Alarm Blaze On West Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Firefighters worked more than two hours Tuesday night to extinguish an extra-alarm blaze on the West Side.
Firefighters were called to a fire at 2626 W. Roosevelt Rd. around 7:35 p.m. By 8:25 p.m., the fire had been upgraded to a 3-11 alarm blaze.
According to the Fire Department, the building is an abandoned two-story brick warehouse with a bowstring truss roof.
Firefighters also initiated a hazardous materials response due to tanker cars on nearby railroad tracks, but the tanker cars were moved to safety away from the scene of the fire.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire. It was struck out at 9:45 p.m., according to the Fire Department.
