(CBS) -- Fire officials say at least one person has died om a three alarm blaze in a three-story, 20-unit apartment building in Rolling Meadows.
"We did have one victim reportedly jump from the third floor balcony upon arrival," said Rolling Meadows Fire Chief Scott Franzgrote. "We did treat and transport that patient I believe to Northwest Community Hospital and it is my understanding that the patient is deceased."
An eyewitness said that fire quickly shot through the roof of the building, at 5201 Carriageway. Fire officials reported seeing heavy smoke and flames shooting from the back of the building when arriving on the scene.
