Firefighter, Son Charged With Beating, Robbing Man In Bridgeport
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago firefighter and his son were ordered held on $75,000 bond each Tuesday after being charged with beating and robbing a man Saturday in the Southwest Side Bridgeport neighborhood.
Judge Israel Desierto set the bonds for Eduardo Castro., 48, of the 1400 block of West Fuller Street, and Eduardo Castro Jr., 24, of the 280 block of South Eleanor Street, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin.
They are charged with one count each of felony robbery and aggravated battery after being arrested Sunday in the 2800 block of South Lock Street, according to police.

Castro, a firefighter, and his son allegedly beat up a man and took his jacket, cell phone and wallet about 4 p.m. Saturday in the 3200 block of South Aberdeen Street, a source said.
The victim suffered a broken nose, but was able to drive himself to an area hospital for treatment, police said. It wasn't immediately clear how he identified the suspects, but both were later arrested during a scuffle with Deering District officers.
The elder Castro was also charged with resisting a police officer, according to police News Affairs. He is listed in a City of Chicago online database as a firefighter earning a yearly salary of $79,926.
Sources said he has an arrest history "dating back years" on weapon- and drug-related charges, but was only convicted once, for unauthorized use of a weapon, prior to 1995.
