Firefighter Injured Battling Blaze In Englewood
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A firefighter was taken to a hospital in serious condition after he was injured battling a blaze in the Englewood neighborhood Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were battling a singe-alarm fire that had spread to two floors of a vacant building in the 6200 block of South Racine Avenue when the fire fighter was injured, according to Fire Media.
The firefighter injured his left knee and was transported in "stable" but serious condition to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, fire officials said.
The fire, which also damaged a building next door, was extinguished about 2:30 p.m., fire officials said.
The Chicago Transit Authority rerouted the #44 Wallace/Racine bus as a result of the fire.
