Firefighter Hurt While Putting Out West Englewood Fire
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago firefighter was injured Monday morning while helping extinguish an extra-alarm blaze in the West Englewood neighborhood.
The fire started around 9:30 a.m. at a house at 6629 S. Bishop St., and ended up spreading to a house next door. No one was home at either house at the time, but both homes were significantly damaged by the blaze.
More than 120 firefighters responded to the extra-alarm fire.
One firefighter suffered a leg injury while putting out the flames, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment. The firefighter was in good condition.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
