Firefighter Hurt, 11 Displaced In South Side Blaze
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A firefighter was injured and 11 people -- including three children -- were displaced from a Saturday afternoon fire in the South Chicago neighborhood.
The fire started about 2:45 p.m. in a 2 ½ story home at 8532 S. Manistee Ave., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.
One firefighter was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition with non-life-threatening injuries, Rosado said.
The house was occupied when the fire started, but none of the residents were injured, Rosado said. Eleven people in the home, including three children, will be displaced.
The blaze was never elevated to an extra-alarm, which automatically brings additional personnel, and the fire was extinguished quickly.
