Fire Sweeps Through House In Maywood
MAYWOOD, Ill. (CBS) -- A raging fire broke out Wednesday morning at a house in west suburban Maywood.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the fire broke out in a 1 1/2-story wood-frame home on First Avenue near Congress Parkway.
As of around 6:45 a.m., the house was fully engulfed, and flames were shooting high into the air from the roof.
Firefighters fought the blaze with a tower ladder truck, and also hosed down the neighboring house to keep the blaze from spreading.
The burning house is just a few blocks from the Eisenhower Expressway, and caused a gapers delay for commuters.
The blaze also closed streets in the area, according to police. First Avenue is closed from Congress Parkway north to Madison Street.
Habermehl reports the house appeared to be vacant. There were no reports of injuries.
