Fire Strikes Two Homes On Southeast Side
CHICAGO (STMW) -- No one was injured in a fire that spread to a neighboring building Monday morning in the South Chicago neighborhood.
A still-and-box alarm was called for a fire at 2949 E. 80th Pl. about 11:15 a.m., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.
The fire originated in 1-1/2-story frame building but soon spread to a neighboring 2-1/2 story building, he said.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze but firefighters remained at the scene as of 11:40 a.m. working on "hot spots," Rosado said.
The fire building was occupied at the time but there were no reports of injuries, he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
