CHICAGO (CBS) -- A major fire destroyed a building in the South Shore neighborhood early Monday morning.

The fire broke out in the building at 1637 E. 75th St., at Cornell Avenue. The Chicago Fire Department called a 2-11 alarm around 12:15 a.m. for additional equipment and manpower.

The flames were out by 7 a.m., but only the exterior walls of the building were left by then.

No injuries were reported.

The single-story brick building had two ground-level doors on either side of a large overhead garage door in the center.

It appears that the building may have been abandoned, but CBS News Chicago was still waiting to hear back from investigators late Monday.
