Fire Destroys Large House In Homer Glen
HOMER GLEN, Ill. (CBS) -- A home in southwest suburban Homer Glen was completely destroyed in a large fire early Friday morning.
CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports flames were visible from as far as 10 miles away as the fire raged at a large mansion-style home in the 15200 block of 163rd Street in Homer Glen.
The Homer Township Fire Protection District said the fire started about 5:45 p.m. A passerby called 911 about the blaze, and the home was already fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.
The house was unoccupied, under construction, and the homeowners were just weeks away from moving in.
The home was gutted by the fire, leaving only a few small wall sections and the stone fireplace and chimney standing. The home was valued at about $750,000.
No injuries were reported.
